New Home Construction above Black Point Beach

Perched high upon the hill in the forest above Black Point Beach, this home has some amazing views. In fact, you can see surfers catching waves at Blacks from the kitchen window. Designed by Brodie Architecture and Design, this home has a great sense of its site.

This beautiful new home is tall, like the surrounding trees, and clad in cement siding—stained a rich dark brown to settle comfortably into its environment. Entry to the home is gained by descending a stepped and articulated cedar trellis, topped with a translucent roof, which gives protection from the rains while allowing the sunlight to stream through on clear days.

Inside the home is a rich but simple palette of finishes: bamboo, sheetrock, fir, copper, and ceramic tile. There are several site-build barn doors, constructed from the same select structural fir as the wood ceilings. The home is heated with one centrally located gas fireplace, and the heat is distributed by a ceiling fan above.

The clients were a pleasure to work with, engaged from the beginning, and very good at making intentional selections that all worked well together.
