We recently completed this beautiful new Sea Ranch home, sitting on the hillside just above the ocean bluff. Malcolm Davis Architecture took full advantage of this site, which most folks passed over as it was heavily forested and appeared to have no views. After we removed some trees, it became clear just how special this lot really is.
The clients, a young couple from the Bay Area, had a very good idea of what they wanted, and it was fun to work with this palette of simple and rustic finishes to produce their vision. The exterior of the home is clad in corrugated Corten steel and Cedar siding, with clean stainless steel cable railings around the view deck. The interior is very simple: concrete floors, plywood walls and doors, with sheetrock used to contrast with the wood finishes. Vertical Grain Fir cabinets are nicely offset with white quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances. The bathrooms are finished with large format tiles, installed in an exactingly straightforward pattern.
This home was a welcome challenge, with strict lines and little room for error. We were very proud to turn the keys over to the Owners (and their dog!)
